01. Rethinking the heart of our galaxy!

For decades, astronomers have been confident that a supermassive black hole, known as Sagittarius A** that sits at the centre of the Milky Way, its enormous gravity governing the orbits of nearby stars and anchoring the galaxy’s heart. But now a new astrophysical study is now shaking up that foundational idea.

So firstly, for years and years observations of stars circling around a galatic centre has been the best evidence of a super black hole chilling there.In 2023, images of a shadowy ring from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) offered direct visual support for a black hole at our galaxy’s core.

But new research is now challenging that assumption, suggesting something even stranger may lie at the heart of our galaxy: a dense core of dark matter rather than a traditional black hole.

The study proposes that an exotic concentration of dark matter could produce gravitational effects almost indistinguishable from a black hole. Tightly binding nearby stars and even bending light strongly enough to create a “shadow-like” appearance similar to what the Event Horizon Telescope has observed.

Crucially, this model could also help explain the Milky Way’s wider structure, potentially linking the galaxy’s central object and its dark-matter halo into a single unified system. While the black hole explanation remains the leading theory, the findings reveal that current observations may not be as definitive as once thought, leaving open the possibility that the centre of our galaxy is not a cosmic void, but something far more mysterious.

02. Why are polar bears getting fatter?

In a twist that might surprise many, new research from Norway’s Svalbard archipelago shows that polar bears there have grown plumper over the past two decades, even though sea ice, their traditional hunting platform has been disappearing rapidly. Scientists analysing long-term data from nearly 1,200 capture records found that, contrary to expectations, adult bears’ body condition (a measure of fat reserves) increased after 2000 despite a shorter ice season.

There are a couple of factors that could explain this unexpected trend. With less sea ice, seals, the bears’ primary prey may be forced into smaller, more predictable patches of ice, making them easier to catch. At the same time, other species such as reindeer and walrus which are now more abundant because of historical hunting protections are showing up in the bears’ diets, providing alternative calories that help them build fat.

This doesn’t mean climate change is suddenly good for polar bears everywhere, elsewhere in the Arctic, other populations are declining as earlier and longer ice-free periods reduce access to seal hunting. But the Svalbard findings show that, in specific local systems, bears can sometimes adapt their feeding ecology and maintain or even boost body condition in the face of dramatic environmental change.

03. Waymo’s $16B funding boost, autonomous vehicles hitting warp speed

Waymo has just raised a staggering $16 billion, pushing its valuation past $120 billion and sending a clear signal that autonomous vehicles are no longer a distant bet!

They’re accelerating fast into real infrastructure. The funding will fuel rapid expansion of Waymo’s fully driverless taxi service, which already delivers hundreds of thousands of paid rides each week across multiple US cities, with plans to scale into 20+ new cities globally.

What’s changed is confidence. After logging millions of autonomous miles with strong safety data and real customer demand, investors now see self-driving tech crossing a tipping point from experimental to deployable at scale.

Waymo’s raise isn’t just about robotaxis, it marks a broader shift where autonomous vehicles are becoming a serious pillar of future transport, backed by capital, regulation, and growing public adoption.

Now, is this a good thing, safer travel but in exchange for what, human interaction?

04. Ibu Baron, The world’s longest wild snake

A massive reticulated python discovered in Indonesia has just been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the longest wild snake ever measured. The female serpent, nicknamed Ibu Baron, meaning “The Baroness”. Stretched an astonishing 7.22 metres (23 ft 8 in) from head to tail when measured in January, surpassing all recently verified wild specimens.

Found deep in the forests of Sulawesi, Ibu Baron highlights the incredible potential size of reticulated pythons. The world’s longest snake species, capable of growing far beyond what most people ever see in the wild. Although longer individuals have been reported historically (with unverified claims stretching up to over 10 m), this record is based on precise recent measurement and verification.

01. The Dormont Bomb

So I’ve been reading into the much-feared Arctic “methane bomb” and it may not detonate after all. As the frozen ground of the far north thaws, scientists once warned of a massive release of methane, a greenhouse gas far more potent than carbon dioxide. Has been threatening to accelerate global warming in a runaway loop. A new study, however, paints a different picture: beneath the thawing ice lie microbial soldiers that eat methane, not create it. Researchers examined samples from across the Arctic, from Canada to Siberia and found that the bacteria that consume methane (methanotrophs) may outcompete those that produce it (methanogens) in drier soil conditions.

In short, if the land warms but dries instead of turning into soggy swamp, it could act as a methane sink rather than a fossil-fuel-style blast. That said, the scientists caution this isn’t a guarantee. The outcome hinges on how the soil behaves as climate change continues. The freeze-thaw may still release carbon, and we simply don’t yet know how fast or in what form. So the picture shifts: the Arctic isn’t just ticking time-bomb territory; it might become an unexpected buffer in the climate story.

02. The Mother Wreck

An 18th-century Spanish galleon, the San José, long dubbed the “holy grail of shipwrecks”, has finally begun giving up its treasures. Sunk in 1708 near Cartagena, Colombia after its powder magazines exploded, the ship carried an estimated cache of some 11 million gold and silver coins. Worth perhaps US $20 billion. A recent recovery mission, approved by Bogotá, has now brought up the first artifacts: a cannon, three coins (macuquinas), and fragments of fine porcelain.

The wreck lies some 600 metres deep under the Caribbean Sea, in a location kept as a state secret by Colombia. Now, Ownership of the treasure, however, remains fiercely contested. An American group says they discovered the ship in the 1980s and claim large financial rights; Colombia insists the operation is for research and preservation, not private profit, but really? Im not buying that.

This discovery matters not just for its glittering value, but because it opens an archaeological time-capsule, even the coins and porcelain will undergo lab analysis to reveal manufacturing origins, trade networks, production technologies and perhaps something of the lives of those aboard, and the empire behind them.

03. 28 Hours of Keepie-Uppies

In a feat that redefines stamina and sheer ball control, Swedish football enthusiast Daniel Yaakob has just claimed the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon controlling a football. Over at the Rydshallen sports complex in Linköping, he kept a football in the air, juggling it with knees, chest, feet, and head, for an astonishing 28 hours, 21 minutes, and 2 seconds.

That’s more than a full day of continuous balancing, flicking, and “keepie-uppies,” with only brief permitted breaks every few hours. Yaakob’s performance didn’t just topple the previous record; it turned a simple street-skill staple into a marathon-length endurance spectacle.

04. Mummi Cheetahs

Hidden deep in a cave in northern Saudi Arabia, scientists have discovered something almost impossible: naturally mummified cheetahs. Preserved by dry, stable cave conditions, their bodies remain eerily intact, a rare fate for large predators.

Dating shows some are up to 1,800 years old, while surrounding remains stretch back nearly 4,000 years, revealing that cheetahs once used these caves for generations. Genetic clues link them to both Asiatic and African populations, exposing a richer, forgotten ecosystem across Arabia.

The cheetahs vanished from the region long ago but in the dark, the past waited. Preserved. Silent. Watching.

01. Man Pulls Ship Using His Teeth

Egyptian strongman and wrestler Ashraf “Kabonga” Mahrous has made headlines after pulling a 700-ton ship, using a rope held solely by his teeth. yeah, no joke.
Not stopping there, he also pulled two ships totalling ~1,150 tons (≈1,043,000 kg) together in a subsequent attempt. He claims he’s aiming for a Guinness World Record. The current benchmark stands at 614 tons.
Previously, he’s been certified by Guinness for pulling a 279-ton train using his teeth over ~10 meters, and he once hauled a 15,730 kg truck the same way.At 6′3″ (1.9 m) and ~155 kg, Mahrous says his strength came early; by age 9 he was lifting items for money.
His recent feat was backed by training ~6 hours/day and a protein-heavy diet (dozen eggs, 2 whole chickens, 5 kg fish).

He even tries to “connect” with the object lol.

“It’s important for me to treat the object that I will pull as part of my body that moves along with my heartbeat.”

02. Lightning Goes Long: The 829 km “Megaflash”

A new world record has struck, literally. A re-analysis of satellite and radar data shows that the longest single lightning flash ever recorded stretched ~829 km across the U.S. Midwest, making a dazzling, miles-spanning mark in October 2017.

• The flash lasted 7.39 seconds. Far longer than most lightning pulses.

• Along its path, it produced at least 116 ground strikes (cloud-to-ground spikes) on top of cloud-to-cloud discharges.

• In effect, it outpaced the previous record by ~120 km.

What makes a “megaflash” special?

Unlike standard lightning, which tends to be brief and localized, a megaflash is a giant, horizontally sprawling electric discharge that can travel across huge distances through layered, charged clouds.
These events are rare, about 1 in 1,000 thunderstorms across the Americas spawn them.
Also, while typical ground strikes last only microseconds, some parts of this megaflash lingered for up to 100 milliseconds, meaning the surge of energy holds longer, raising the risk for fires or ground damage.

Understanding megaflashes helps expand our knowledge of extreme weather and the limits of nature’s electric artistry. If we can better detect & predict them, we gain more warning for severe storm events and perhaps improve safety for infrastructure (trees, power lines, buildings) in their paths.

03. Parachutes Inspired by Kirigami

When you think of parachutes, you imagine a canopy of fabric. But researchers have turned to kirigami. The Japanese art of cutting paper, to design a new kind of parachute that unfurls itself, no matter how it’s dropped.

A thin Mylar disk, scored with concentric slits, transforms into a vase-like lattice as it falls. The magic? It self-reorients mid-air and then descends straight down, regardless of its starting orientation. That predictability is what makes it intriguing for drone package drops or humanitarian supply missions.

In testing, a 1 kg water bottle dropped from 60 m with one of these kirigami parachutes hit ~14 m/s vs. ~34 m/s without any parachute.
Also worth noting: because the disk is perforated, it creates less drag per area than a traditional solid canopy. But to safely carry a human, the radius would need to be around 100 meters — yes, nearly a football field.

04. India’s Cough Syrup Obsession

A chilling déjà vu in India, 19 children dead after drinking a cough syrup laced with toxic diethylene glycol, the same chemical found in antifreeze. It’s not the first time: similar poisonings have killed dozens in The Gambia, Uzbekistan, and Jammu.

Despite repeated scandals, cough syrups remain a national habit. Sold over the counter, overprescribed, and often unregulated. Most do little good, some do lasting harm.
As one doctor put it: “The main goal isn’t treatment — just comfort.”

But in India’s syrup culture, comfort can turn deadly.

05. Deep-Sea Discoveries: A Glowing Shark and a Ghostly Crab

Scientists off Western Australia have revealed two brand-new marine species:

• A lanternshark (named Etmopterus westraliensis), found ~610 m down. Tiny (≈ 40 cm), it glows via photophores along its belly and flanks.

  

• A porcelain crab (Porcellanella brevidentata), just ~15 mm long, living symbiotically among “leaves” of sea pen corals.

  

These finds came from the 2022 CSIRO expedition aboard RV Investigator, which has already helped describe nearly 20 new species and estimates there could be up to 600 more awaiting description.

01. 1. AI-“Smart Sewers” That Fight Pollution in Real Time

Yeah, so AI is breaching every portion of the world now! In northeast England, Northumbrian Water is trialling a network of ultrasonic sensors + AI to monitor sewage flow and prevent overflows before they pollute rivers.

By predicting spikes and managing flow proactively, the system avoided dozens of pollution events already. It’s infrastructure acting like a nervous system, reactive and predictive. Now this matetrs because as climate change intensifies storms, sewage systems designed for old norms will fail. Adaptive systems like this may be essential to future cities.

02. Arc

Startup Inversion Space just unveiled Arc, a reusable capsule designed to deliver cargo from orbit to Earth in under an hour. The World’s First Space-Based Delivery Vehicle. Instead of relying on rockets or aircraft, Arc vehicles will float in low Earth orbit, waiting to be dispatched. When called, they’ll re-enter the atmosphere, glide to their destination, and land within about 50 feet of target.

Each craft can carry up to 500 lbs, think medical supplies, defense payloads, or experimental materials dropped anywhere on the planet. It’s a bold step toward “space logistics”, treating orbit as the next global highway.
First launch is planned for 2026.

This could make rapid, global delivery possible from space. Once this gets going your amazon parcels will be coming from up above.

03. Oyster-Inspired “Bone Glue”

This has gotta be the maddest news to come out. Chinese researchers have developed a bio-adhesive named Bone-02, modeled after how oysters cling in wet, turbulent environments. In clinical and lab tests, this glue can mend broken bones in 2–3 minutes, even in blood-rich areas where traditional adhesives fail.

Bone-02 bonds bone fragments with over 400 lbs of force and exhibits strong compressive and shear strength, all while being biodegradable, removing the need for metal plates or screws and a second surgery for implant removal.

Because it sets fast in challenging environments, it could reduce surgery times, lower infection risk, and simplify recovery. If clinical trials continue to deliver, this could reshape how we treat complex fractures.

04. Lost Spanish Treasure Unearthed off Florida’s Coast

Divers from salvage firm 1715 Fleet – Queens Jewels, LLC have recovered over 1,000 gold and silver coins off the Florida “Treasure Coast,” estimating the haul to be worth around $1 million. These coins are believed to be from the ill-fated 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, which was carrying wealth from colonies in Bolivia, Mexico, and Peru back to Spain when a hurricane wrecked the ships in July 1715.

Now what makes this discovery stand out is that some of the coins still bear visible dates and mint marks, offering historians fresh clues about where and when they were minted.

Under Florida law, historic treasures found in state waters belong to the state, though licensed recovery teams often get permission to retrieve them, with about 20% of artifacts reserved for public display or research.

05. Hair-Based Toothpaste That Repairs Enamel (Seriously)

Researchers at King’s College London have developed a keratin-based treatment, derived from hair (wool, technically), that can repair tooth enamel naturally.

Unlike bone or skin, enamel doesn’t regenerate once damaged. But when keratin is applied to a tooth’s surface and comes into contact with minerals in saliva, it forms a crystal-like scaffold that mimics natural enamel. That scaffold attracts calcium and phosphate ions, slowly rebuilding the protective layer. In lab tests, this keratin coating not only stops enamel decay (something fluoride can only slow) but also seals exposed nerve channels, which can reduce sensitivity.

The beauty of it? It’s biodegradable, sourced from biological waste, and could be delivered via toothpaste or as a dentist-applied gel. If all goes well, we might see versions of it in clinics and stores in 2–3 years.

This could shift dentistry from patching damage to restoring structure. Imagine brushing your teeth and slowly regrowing enamel. Not just preserving what’s left.

01. Robodog Takes Over Dutch Pastures

Picture a Dutch dairy farm swapping its trusty border collie for a four-legged robot that herds over three hundred sheep using GPS and lidar and a smartphone app. It never gets tired or sidetracked, just follow the on-screen map, program your whistle commands, and watch it nudge every ewe into the milking barn. Farmers say it’s a total game-changer for both efficiency and animal welfare, and best of all, you never have to worry about muddy paw prints in the kitchen. Some people are also truly against it. I dunno it is quite cool but to replace a humans best friend with a robot, im n’m not quite sure.

02. Selective Laser Magic, NASA’s 3D-Printed Injector Nails Every Hot-Fire Test

Imagine building a rocket injector layer by layer. Yeah, no machining of dozens of tiny bits, just metal powder and a laser. That’s exactly what happened at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility this winter. From November 2023 through January 2024, the propulsion team ran 21 short “hot-fire” tests of the Orion Main Engine’s injector, all printed in one piece using selective laser machining. Each firing proved the part could deliver liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen into the combustion chamber cleanly, maintain stable burns, and even recover if engineers deliberately perturbed the flame.

Traditional injector fabrication can involve 160 individual parts and months of work. This blade-sharp, super-dense single-piece injector rolled off the printer in weeks, slashed assembly time and cost, and crucially held up under real rocket conditions. It’s a giant leap toward fully 3D-printed engines for Artemis landers and deep-space missions, where every gram (and every dollar) counts.

03. Humanity Holds the Line

This is both amazing and scary at the same time. At the AtCoder World Tour Finals Heuristic Contest in Tokyo, a 41-year-old Polish programmer, nicknamed Psyho, out-coded an OpenAI model, guiding virtual robots across a 30×30 grid with a solution so slick that he edged the AI by 9.5 percent in the final score. He accomplished it all in a ten-hour marathon using “plain” Visual Studio Code, with no AI assistance, relying only on basic autocomplete. Psyho admits exhaustion set in, he nearly took a break midway, but knowing the AI was breathing down his neck, pushed him to squeeze out every last drop of creativity and stamina.

OpenAI’s own CEO, Sam Altman, even chimed in on X, saying “good job psycho” and hinted that this human vs. AI face-off might be a fleeting thing. In February, he warned that by the end of 2025, AI tools could begin to dominate coding contests altogether. So savor this win now, it might just be the last time a human coder walks away on top.

04. Living Streetlamps? Tokyo’s Labs Grow Mushrooms That Glow for Days

Tokyo’s mycology labs have turned the city into a real-life fairy tale by culturing bioluminescent mushrooms that burn bright in neon green and yellow for up to a week. Japanese scientists first got the ball rolling when Osamu Shimomura and an international team cracked the fungal luciferase pathway in 2018. Building on that breakthrough, researchers at institutions like Chubu University and the National Museum of Nature and Science are now fine-tuning growth media, adjusting nutrients, humidity and substrate to dial in glow intensity and duration.

Not longuntil you might be able to “plant” your own eco-friendly streetlamps or nightlights that need nothing but water to light up your home. This is exciting.

05. Robot Royalty Painter Steals the Spotlight

A humanoid robot named Ai Da swishes her mechanical arm across an oil canvas, then steps back to reveal the British Monarchs, King Charles in all his regal glory. She peered through built-in cameras, analyzed countless photos of the monarch, and let advanced AI decide each brushstroke in real time

It’s not just a quirky stunt Ai Da actually painted Queen Elizabeth II back in 2022 for the UN’s AI for Good Summit in Geneva. Now she’s back with “Algorithm King,” proving robots can capture royal cheekbones with zero tea-spilling required. Think about it next time you’re hanging art at home, you might be commissioning your toaster to paint you instead lol.

06. Your Next Battery Could Be Breakfast

Researchers at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia have developed a completely edible battery made from food-grade ingredients, featuring a riboflavin (vitamin B2) anode, a quercetin (plant pigment) cathode, activated carbon for conductivity, all sealed in beeswax with a nori-algae separator. This little cell cranks out about 1 V at tens of microamps for 10–12 minutes. Just enough juice to run a tiny ingestible sensor that tracks pH and temperature through your GI tract, and then it harmlessly dissolves in your stomach within 20 minutes.

We're going to be swallowing a diagnostic pill that powers itself, sends back live gut-health data, and then vanishes without a trace. No surgery, no cleanup. It’s a game-changer for smart medical capsules and could even lead to edible environmental tags in food packaging.

The Mighty Pepper, the intrepid house cat of UF virologist John Lednicky, stalked and snagged an unsuspecting Everglades short-tailed shrew in his own backyard, hauling it into the lab and unwittingly leading researchers to sequence a completely novel orthoreovirus now dubbed “Gainesville shrew mammalian orthoreovirus type 3 strain UF-1”.
This ten-segment genome deposit not only underscores how far-flung hunters (feline or otherwise) can reshape our understanding of viral diversity but also rings alarm bells about the zoonotic threats silently evolving just beyond our doors.

Imagine owning a piece of Mars. I am not kidding. This rock weighs about 54 pounds (roughly 25 kilos) and is the most significant chunk of Mars ever found on Earth. It goes by the name of NWA 16788. Sotheby’s is putting it up for auction in New York on July 16, 2025 as part of their Geek Week sale, with an estimated price tag of 2 to 4 million dollars.

Yep you heard that right, Japan just blasted past every record, clocking a mind blowing 1.02 petabits per second over ordinary 19 core optical fiber. That is roughly 3.5 million times faster than the average US household connection. This is reality is absolutely insane.

Now this is how they did it. The team looped the signal 21 times through precision amplifiers along 1,808 kilometres of fiber, then squeezed 180 separate light wavelengths. Each modulated with high-density data across the network’s C and L bands. It was a collaboration led by Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology with help from Sumitomo Electric and research groups in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands

Currently, it remains a lab proof of concept, but imagine downloading everything on Netflix in under a second or powering AI farms at this speed. The future of the internet has just become a whole lot more exciting.

05. Nvidia breaks the 4 trillion dollar barrier

On July 9, 2025, its shares briefly pushed its market cap to that mind-blowing figure. It’s wild to realize one chipmaker now outweighs the combined value of the Canadian and Mexican stock markets and even tops the total market cap of every publicly traded company in the United Kingdom (it tripled its valuation in about a year, faster than Apple and Microsoft). Like, how absolutely crazy is this?

What made this possible? Nvidia’s GPUs have become the beating heart of the AI revolution, powering everything from generative chatbots to massive data-crunching farms. The company also locked in multibillion-dollar deals in the Middle East and poured huge investments into AI-focused data centers. In May, it reported 44.1 billion dollars in first-quarter revenue, a 69 percent jump year-over-year.

Oh yeah, this is how it sounds. A couple for near enough 18 years have been trying to conceive a baby. Using all the modern methods, IVF , visiting fertility centres. Now this couple went to Columbia University where they used the STAR method (Sperm Tracking And Recovery). This method is where AI will search and find sperm within a man, who previously thought that there was none at all. An Astrophysics AI, used to spot starts repurposed by Dr. Zev Williams. It captures 8 million high-speed microscope images in under an hour, analyzing them in real time to locate rare sperm cells invisible to human eyes. Is this not absolutely bonkers!

With a procedure cost of about $3,000 (under a quarter of full IVF), STAR offers a non-invasive alternative to testicular surgery or donor sperm. However, experts caution that it’s still early days. Larger studies and long-term follow-up are vital to confirm safety and efficacy.

02.Cosmic Stranger Blazes Through Our Solar System

Astronomers confirmed the discovery of 3I/ATLAS (initially cataloged as A11pl3Z) Now, seriously this is only the third known interstellar object ever spotted entering our solar system. Measuring roughly 10–20 km across (around 6–12 miles), this mysterious visitor cruises at an astounding 60 km/s (about 37 mi/s), coming from the direction of Sagittarius. Its hyperbolic path makes one thing crystal clear, this is no native of our solar system, it’s passing through on a one-way journey. But actually imagine the size of this thing, 6-12 miles across!!

While its exact nature remains unclear, early observations suggest it’s an icy comet with a slight coma and brief tail, indicating sublimation of volatile minerals. 3I/ATLAS currently floats near Jupiter’s orbit, set to pierce closest to our fiery Sun in late October, then past Mars, and be briefly hidden behind the Sun before emerging in December for further study. Though it poses no danger, its pass will keep it at least 1.6 AU from Earth. This giant interstellar traveler fuels excitement: it may be the largest such object yet observed, and it represents a rare, tangible clue about the makeup of distant star systems.

03. “Bille” – The Pyramid That Always Lands Upright

Mathematicians and engineers have finally brought to life a remarkable shape known as Bille, the world’s first monostable tetrahedron. This four‑faced pyramid will always tip into the same position. Literally no matter how you toss or set it down. I will put the video below, it’s actaully wild. In Egypt’s Western Desert lies Wadi Al‑Hitan, literally the “Valley of the Whales” a UNESCO World Heritage site brimming with more than 400 fossils from whale ancestors that once walked the Earth. These Eocene-era giants, dating back 34–56 million years, offer remarkable snapshots of evolution in motion. Now these fossils tells us a lot. creatures like Basilosaurus isis grew up to 18 meters long yet retained hind limbs with ankles, toes, even five-fingered flippers on their forelimbs. These “walking whales” physically link terrestrial mammals to modern cetaceans. Honestly blew my mind. Unearthed knee joints, feet bones, and even tiny toes were so well-preserved that paleontologists have reconstructed how these whales slowly adapted to aquatic life before fully leaving land behind.

Located 150 km southwest of Cairo in what was once the Tethys Ocean, Wadi Al‑Hitan’s fossils are embedded in sandstone and limestone, preserved by desert conditions as the sea receded. Today, the site functions like a natural museum, complete with guided trails where visitors can marvel at skeletons lying in situ, helping us visualize one of evolution’s most dramatic transformations. 05. China’s Humanoid Robot Soccer Team Steals the Show

In Beijing this weekend, four university teams fielded humanoid robots in a fully autonomous 3-vs-3 soccer match. Absolutely no humans driving from the sidelines. These pint-sized robot athletes, built by Booster Robotics and programmed by Tsinghua, China Agricultural, and other universities, used onboard cameras, AI vision, and deep reinforcement learning to chase, pass, and score—occasionally toppling over in true human‑esque fashion

05. China Plans Nuclear-Powered Moon Base by 2035

The moon race, I guess its back? And China’s aiming to take it nuclear.

According to Chinese space officials, a China-led international lunar research station will include a nuclear power plant on the moon's surface, set to be operational by 2035. This ambitious project, known as the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS), will serve as a hub for long-term human and robotic missions.

The nuclear reactor is designed to sustain the base’s energy needs during the long lunar nights, which last around 14 Earth days, when solar power isn’t viable.

China is collaborating with Russia, Venezuela, Pakistan, South Africa, and others on this venture, signaling a new global space bloc.

Now from what I have read I would say the goal is to establish a permanent lunar presence, mine resources, and lay the groundwork for deep-space exploration.

As the U.S. and its Artemis program push for similar ambitions, the moon is becoming the next geopolitical frontier and it’s powered by nuclear ambition.

Developed by engineers at the University of Science and Technology of China, Cassie’s marathon wasn’t about speed — it was about endurance and balance algorithms. Completing the race marks a huge leap forward in humanoid robotics, showing that robots might one day navigate complex environments or even emergencies alongside humans.

I’m not sure how i feel about saying this but the age of bionic marathons has begun.

02. YouTuber Illegally Visits One of the World’s Most Restricted Islands

An American YouTuber is facing severe heat after illegally visiting India’s North Sentinel Island, one of the most forbidden places on Earth, home to the isolated Sentinelese tribe. This island is strictly off-limits under Indian law to protect the tribe, which has resisted outside contact for centuries and is vulnerable to modern diseases.

The YouTuber, who has not been named in reports, allegedly uploaded videos showing himself near the island, sparking outrage and an official investigation. The Sentinelese, known for fiercely defending their territory (even lethally), were not approached directly, but even being near the island is illegal.

Time Is a Construct… But Who Built It?

It sounds like the plot of a conspiracy thriller or an eerie alt-history novel: a group of powerful rulers in the Middle Ages conspires to alter time itself, inserting centuries of fictional history into the record and fabricating kings, empires, and even entire wars.

But this isn't fiction. It's a fundamental theory proposed by German historian Heribert Illig in the early 1990s.

The theory? The years 614 to 911 AD never actually occurred, and the early Middle Ages, often referred to as the "Dark Ages" is a historical mirage, constructed and artificially inserted into the calendar.

Known as the Phantom Time Hypothesis, this idea has drawn both fascination and ridicule, but it asks a question that sits at the heart of human history: how do we know what we know… and who told us?

The Core of the Theory

Illig's hypothesis is deceptively simple: between the fall of the Western Roman Empire and the rise of the Holy Roman Empire, nearly 300 years of history were intentionally fabricated.

Specifically, the time between 614 AD and 911 AD was added to the calendar, and events allegedly occurring in that span. Including the life and reign of Charlemagne, often dubbed the "Father of Europe", never actually happened.

According to Illig, this temporal padding was orchestrated by a trio of historical power players:

• Holy Roman Emperor Otto III

• Pope Sylvester II

• Byzantine Emperor Constantine VII

Now, what was their goal? To place themselves symbolically at the year 1000 AD, a millennium marker with religious and imperial significance. Doing so, Illig claims, would strengthen their legitimacy, align their reigns with a divine timeline, and rewrite history in their favor.

The hypothesis proposes that records were forged, documents altered, and entire dynasties manufactured. In essence, the medieval church and empire collaborated in one of the greatest historical hoaxes of all time.

The "Evidence": A Mix of Gaps, Anomalies & Questions

Illig and supporters of the theory pointed to several anomalies and inconsistencies in the historical record to support their claim:

Firstly, Illig noted that there was a notable lack of technological, architectural, and artistic progress in Europe during this supposed 300-year stretch. There are few large-scale construction projects and little advancement in political systems or literature. This period is often referred to as the "Dark Ages" for exactly these reasons.

Secondly, Compared to earlier Roman history and later medieval chronicles, the years between 600–900 AD offer relatively few surviving documents. Illig suggests this is because they were never truly written, only retroactively inserted.

Thirdly, Perhaps the most cited "evidence" is the Julian and Gregorian calendar drift. When Pope Gregory XIII introduced the Gregorian calendar in 1582, the 10-day adjustment reflected only about 1,300 years of drift, not the nearly 1,600 years that had supposedly passed since Julius Caesar introduced the Julian calendar in 45 BC. Illig argued this was suspicious and suggested 300 "extra" years had been added somewhere.

Fourthly, Charlemagne, Illig argued, is too perfect. The emperor's life, accomplishments, and symbolic unification of Europe read more like mythology than history. Was Charlemagne a real figure or a medieval composite character invented to justify royal lineage?

While intriguing, the Phantom Time Hypothesis is overwhelmingly rejected by mainstream scholars, and for good reason. Here's why:

Solar eclipses and astronomical events, many of which were documented in Chinese, Arab, and European records, align perfectly with modern calculations. These alignments prove that the timeline has remained consistent for over 2,000 years.

Tree-ring dating and radiocarbon dating provide hard physical evidence of the continuous passage of time. Dendrochronological sequences, especially from ancient oaks and bristlecone pines, show unbroken records stretching through the so-called "phantom period."

Civilizations with no connection to the Holy Roman Empire, such as the Tang Dynasty in China, the Islamic Golden Age, and pre-Columbian civilizations, have detailed, dated records that align with Europe's contested timeline. If the years 614–911 didn't happen, why do Chinese astronomical logs reflect them?

Archaeological layers, burial sites, coins, tools, and pottery clearly show continuity through this period. Even if documentation was light, the physical remnants of the 7th, 8th, and 9th centuries are very much real.

So Why Does This Theory Still Fascinate?

The Phantom Time Hypothesis is compelling not because it's true but because it taps into something deeper: our unease with how history is recorded, controlled, and remembered.

We rarely think about the infrastructure of time. How our calendars, clocks, and historical knowledge are constructed.

What if it's wrong?

What if it's manipulated?

And Illig isn't alone. Similar calendar conspiracies exist in cultures around the world. Some Orthodox groups reject the Gregorian calendar to this day. Even our current dating system — BCE/CE or BC/AD — is a legacy of powerful religious and political forces shaping our worldview.

In other words, even if Illig's theory is incorrect, his core question remains unsettling:

How much of our history is fact… and how much is belief?

A Brilliant Failure

The Phantom Time Hypothesis is almost certainly false but it's a phenomenal exercise in critical thinking, historical skepticism, and intellectual rebellion. In a world where history is often written by the victors, questioning the script isn't just allowed it's necessary.

So no, 297 years of history probably didn't vanish.

But in that space of doubt? A whole new curiosity is born.

A private collector brought the monk to a restoration lab in the Netherlands, and conservators performed routine scans on a centuries-old Buddha statue when the impossible appeared on the screen.

Now inside the statue, hidden beneath layers of lacquer and gold, was literally a mummified human body. Perfectly seated in the lotus position, arms relaxed, spine straight. The remains were so intact, so precise, that the man appeared less dead and more… waiting.

This wasn't just any statue. And it wasn't just anybody.

It was Liuquan, a Buddhist monk believed to have lived over 1,000 years ago and who may have mummified himself alive.

Who Was Liuquan?

Historians believe Liuquan belonged to the Chinese Meditation School, a spiritual lineage that practiced extreme asceticism in pursuit of enlightenment. His remains, hidden inside the statue, were not discovered until nearly a millennium later when the statue was brought to Europe and eventually x-rayed.

The scan revealed a human skeleton in a meditative posture, as well as rolled scrolls and paper talismans placed where Liuquan's organs once were. This wasn't just a burial, it was a ritual.

Liuquan is thought to have undergone a rare and intense Buddhist ritual called sokushinbutsu, this is a process by which monks intentionally mummify themselves alive in an act of spiritual mastery.

I’ll break this down,

1. Years of Preparation: Monks would begin by removing all fat from their bodies through a strict diet of nuts, seeds, roots, and tree bark.

2. Toxic Tea: They would then drink a poisonous sap from the urushi tree, which helped preserve the body by killing off maggots and bacteria after death.

3. Live Burial: When ready, the monk would descend into a stone chamber, assume the lotus position, and be sealed inside with a breathing tube and a bell.

4. Final Silence: Each day, the monk would ring the bell to signal he was still alive. One day, the bell would stop. The tube would be removed. The tomb sealed.

If the monk's body remained preserved after death — and didn't decay — it was seen as proof of enlightenment.

Only a few dozen such mummies have ever been documented. Liuquan may be the only one ever hidden inside a statue.

Here's where things get real weird.

Some modern Buddhist practitioners claim Liuquan is not dead, but in a deep state of meditation, so profound that the body simply... stopped needing to move. To them, he is a "Living Buddha" — not a corpse, but a teacher, frozen in time.

It's a belief not entirely dissimilar from certain Tibetan traditions, where advanced monks are said to suspend bodily function for months, even years.

Share Extremely Peculiar

Even Western scientists were stunned by the level of preservation. The statue contains skin, muscle, and bone, all remarkably intact after a thousand years without embalming or modern preservation.

The statue was exhibited in Hungary as part of a touring show called "Mummy World" — until Chinese officials claimed it had been stolen from a temple in Fujian province. They demanded its return, saying Liuquan was not a museum piece, but a revered spiritual figure.

Controversy followed. Was this artifact sacred or scientific? A relic or a person? And who has the right to own a body that may not even be "dead"?

As of now, the statue's exact whereabouts are unclear, reportedly held in private hands, out of public view.

Now, what does it mean to die on your own terms? Was Liuquan's goal to escape mortality or transcend it? And if a monk can sit in meditation for a thousand years, unchanged, unmoving… is it time we redefine what "life" even means?
